| Vero Beach's Most Delightful Surprise! - A Visitor's Story - Irene liked the name, Sea Turtle Inn...
It sounded like the right place to stay, and it was!
Once settled in, they went off to try one of the fine area restaurants recommended by their hosts. With so many to choose from, Irene knew she would be doing little cooking this vacation. After a delicious meal, they walked back the short block from the bustle of Ocean Drive to the peace and solitude of the Sea Turtle's outside deck.Irene was positive she could hear the ocean. They would sleep well tonight!
That was the ocean Irene heard last night -- and just steps from the Inn. Today they strolled the beach for what seemed like miles, collecting shells and marveling at its beauty. Jim pointed out a sea turtle nest, and they laughed at the clowning dolphins surfacing in the distance.
Though reluctant to leave the idyllic setting, neither wanted to miss this afternoon's cook-out, a festive event held monthly during the winter. What a great opportunity to splash about in the Sea Turtle's sparkling new pool, work on their tans and make acquaintances with the other guests.
In the morning, they returned to the deck to sip coffee and visit with some of their new friends. Jim made plans to join the group later for a round of golf at one of Vero's 9 courses open to the public, while Irene & the girls would spend time exploring the wonderfully quaint shops along Ocean Drive. Today, however, they were on their way to Riverside Park, just 2 blocks from the Sea Turtle Inn. Irene beat Jim at tennis, and they both agreed to return to walk the tree-lined jogging trails, use the exercise stations and perhaps take in a play at the performing arts theatre.
Whether touring Harbour Branch "...one of the premier ocean research facilities in the world", viewing local wildlife along the boardwalk at the Environmental Learning Center or simply curling up with the latest bestseller, the days passed with amazing speed. Sadly, they realized their stay could not last forever, and there were still so many things left to do.
They wanted to ...see a space shuttle launch
...take a 3 or 4 day Caribbean cruise
...drop in on Mickey Mouse or
...spend a day at Epcot, Sea World or Universal Studios
all are within a two hour drive!
But there would be another time!!
For Irene and Jim, the Sea Turtle Inn turned out to be one of Vero Beach's delightful surprises. The accommodations were comfortable and affordable -- the hospitality warm and friendly. They arrived as strangers but knew they would be leaving as friends!
Come and discover what Jim and Irene would like to keep a secret!
