This house is the oldest existing structure, circa 1808, built on the property that was sold to, Madame Magdalene Baure, one of the first free women of color to purchase property in the United States. This creole cottage at 928 Kerlerec Street retains all of its original French doors, hardware, wood work, beaded ceilings and mantles; some of the oldest examples in the Marigny. |
