Perfect Mix Of Seclusion And Peaceful Surroundings - For many years, Whisperwood has been home to countless vacationers and fishermen. Our lakeside cottages are situated for your privacy on wooded acres of land overlooking picture perfect Salmon Lake. The location offers a perfect mix of seclusion and peaceful surroundings yet our easy access allows for more time at Whisperwood and less time on the road.

Whisperwood consists of eleven spacious lakeside cabins nestled on a hillside sloping down to Salmon Lake. Each cabin is full of charm and has a separate living room, bedroom(s), bathroom with hot and cold running water, showers, automatic heat, refrigerator and all bedding linens are provided. Some cabins have a wood burning stove. Under the American Plan housekeeping is provided daily. Most units have screened porches as well.

Whisperwood has become a tradition for many people who return year after year to enjoy all we have to offer.

Amenities: You'll find that our cottages will provide you with all the comfort and relaxation you deserve. Three home-cooked meals are expertly prepared using the highest quality food. Breakfast includes a choice of anything from eggs to pancakes and a variety of beverages. Lunches are packed to go to allow guests to enjoy the day as they choose. Dinner consists of a choice of two entrees each night along with a salad, rolls, vegetables, potato and homemade deserts.

Some of the main dishes you'll enjoy are: Roast Turkey, Pot Roast, Roast Beef, Roast Pork, Boneless Breast of Chicken, Barbeque Chicken, Baked Stuffed Porkchops, a variety of seafoods, and a variety of Italian dishes, including homemade Lasagna. We also have vegetarian dishes.

Entertainment: Although our primary focus at Whisperwood is maine-ly fishing, this is also a great place for those of you who just want to get away from it all. Relax and enjoy yourself in the peaceful atmosphere that we have to offer. Activities that you may enjoy while staying with us...

All guests have free use of canoe, paddleboat, kayaks and swimming area with our new swim float.

Feel free to use our horseshoe court and fireplace located next to the waterfront.

We normally provide one Barbeque style meal served outside next to the waterfront during July and August if you are here on a Saturday. (Provided weather permitting)

Motor boats are available to rent for use on Salmon Lake. Be sure to take your fishing pole because Bubba the big Bass is waiting for your lure to swim by.

Kayaks are also available for use on Salmon Lake, try a leisurely paddle up the lake to watch the sun set.

Hiking. There are a number of hiking trails in the area for those of you who enjoy a peaceful walk on a country trail.

Golf. There are two beautiful 18 hole golf courses within a 10-minute drive of our place. Spend the morning playing golf and the afternoon fishing!!!

Shopping. Visit Freeport, the home of L.L. Bean and other brand name factory outlets.

Day trips to the coast of Maine, only approximately an hour away from our location.

Search for antiques. Maine is full of local antique shops, you will find many in this area.

Country Fairs. There are a number of country fairs going on throughout the summer months in the state of Maine. The Common Ground Fair and the Skowhegan State Fair are just two of the most popular ones within our area.

Summer Theaters. Central Maine's own Lakewood Theater is one of the oldest continually running Summer Theaters in the country and is worth a visit if you are looking for a night out.

Try picking up that book you have been wanting to read for awhile now. There is also a small selection of books located in our lodge.

Or just plain relax and enjoy the beautiful surroundings that Whisperwood has to offer.

Other Comments: If you can get the kids off the new swim dock, when you're done playing on the water there are lots of things to do and see in the area.

Get Real Maine lists lots of Agricultural stuff. Pick your own berries, apples, etc. depending on what's in season.

If you like to shop, we're close to that too. There's new stores going in both Waterville and Augusta, plenty of choices.

Payment Information
Deposits: Deposit of $200.00 per person

Payment Policies: From Memorial Day to Labor Day we require a 3 day minimum stay.

The first 3 weeks of August require a full week stay.

Regular Season Rates include a private cottage with daily housekeeping services, three complete meals and full use of our facility.

We have Off Season rentals from Opening to Memorial Day, and Labor Day to Closing. Enjoy our cabins in the crisp fall air or springtime.

Off season rates run May 713-27, or Sept 6 - Oct 10, and does not include daily housekeeping.

We won't be changing towels or restocking the wood piles every day with the off season rates.

It's our way of keeping your rates lower. Daily housekeeping is still available during off-season for additional fees.

Groups of more than ten persons are responsible for payment-in-full for all reserved accommodations.

Deposits are non-refundable. Deposits provide assurance to both you and us of a confirmed reservation.

Cash or your personal checks are preferred form of payment. Discover, Visa or Master Cards will be accepted. Payment is expected upon arrival.

Should you have any special dietary needs - Please let us know when making your reservation.

Should you want a lunch packed on the day of your arrival, kindly let us know in advance. Lunches are packed in the early a.m. while our kitchen is staffed for that purpose.


Arrival/Departure: Check in time is after 11 am on scheduled arrival date. Check out time is before 10am on scheduled departure date. Except when other arrangements are made in advance.
